The course is an introduction to the basic principles and requirements for safety training as detailed in OSHA Publication 3824, Worker Training Development and Delivery Resource, and Publication 2254, Training Requirements in OSHA Standards.

Emphasis is placed on the knowledge, skills, abilities (KSA) training process, the trainer’s qualifications, and the basics of course development.

Information about schools that offer free online tax preparation courses

Schools generally do not offer free online courses in tax preparation, although they may offer a related tax accounting course through their OpenCourseWare (OCW).

A reliable source of free online tax preparation tutorials is the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or a state tax department.

Free Online Tax Preparation Courses

IRS

  • The Internal Revenue Service provides many free educational resources for individuals and business owners. Through informational videos and workshops, the IRS can show you how to understand and prepare your own tax forms.
  • Learn what forms you need, if you are eligible for the tax credit, how to manage your payroll, and how to set up a retirement plan for your business. You can also study current tax laws, regulations and changes.
  • Link and Learn Taxes is a self-paced series of lessons for people who have volunteered to prepare income taxes for seniors and low-income people. Free online courses are available at the basic and advanced levels for tax year 2019.
  • Get Right with Your Taxes introduces viewers to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which provides free tax help for qualified individuals.
  • This 15-minute video also covers the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit, as well as simple information on how taxes work and what you need to know to file your taxes correctly.

Taxes for Small Businesses: The Virtual Workshop covers federal tax preparation and planning strategies, including a discussion of topics relevant to home-based businesses.

The nine lessons in this course also include setting up retirement plans for business owners, hiring employees, and managing payroll in relation to withholding taxes, among other topics.

Liberty Tax

The national tax agency Liberty Tax offers online tax courses for those interested in becoming tax preparers.

These courses are somewhat self-taught; they consist of 19-20 video classes that can be studied at any time, although there is a 10-week deadline to complete all the material. Students must also pass each exam with a score of at least 70%.

Although registration is free, completion of the course requires the purchase of a textbook, which varies according to the course. Liberty Tax also offers low-cost live classroom training in many locations throughout the United States.

It requires only 15 hours of study, plus a textbook fee of $49.

Introduction to Psychology

This study of the mind and its development seeks to explain many of the activities of the thinking process. It explores perception, memory, persuasion, love, lust and dreams. It looks at children’s mental development and the degradation of the brain due to illness and injury.

MIT Open Courseware – MIT

  • Introduction to Psychology (9.00SC): discusses the brain and human nature and how the brain supports the mind. After further study, students will be able to see the debate of nature versus nurture with greater clarity, as well as free will and consciousness.
  • Introduction to Psychology (9.00): This course differs in that it refers to the fact that the student may be the main subject, and is used in a lecture to help explain the theories and ideas of psychology. Look at many of the same ideas to develop an initial understanding of the study of psychology.
  • Social psychology (9.70): analyzes shared social situations by consensus. Taught by MIT professor Stephan Chorover, this comprehensive course includes course materials and lecture notes that can be used to aid in understanding.
  • Neuroscience and Behavior (9.01): this course deals with the neural function of the brain and many of its activities. Seeing this, a better understanding of sensory and motor systems, motivation and reward, and related learning and memory.
  • Animal behavior (9.20): looks at the adaptive behaviors seen in the brain and also in animals. Investigate foraging and feeding, defensive and aggressive behaviour, and other ways that brains adapt to environmental conditions to survive.
  • Feeling and imagination in art, science and technology (24,262): This seminar analyses creativity and the way it takes shape in art, science and technology. The idealization of creativity in these forms gives meaning to the human condition, and can be seen in many associated fields, such as literature and philosophy.
  • The Nature of Creativity (24,263) – This course presents problems about creativity and how it relates to certain human behaviors. Above all, this is related to imagination and innovation in particular. Readings and orientation can be determined by the student’s interests.

Buddhist Psychology: This series of 24 lectures by Eleanor Rosch of UC Berkeley includes a very detailed look at this field. The program does not include any study material, but provides an in-depth look at this practice.

Clinical Psychology: This course sequence of 24 lectures investigates clinical psychology and its role in social welfare systems. Professor Ann Kring of UC Berkeley leads the course on this topic.

How to Think Like a Psychologist: This series is conducted by several professors at Stanford University. The in-depth research examines the various parts of practitioners’ work and seeks to see our own behaviors and attitudes differently.

Social Psychology: The Self and Society: This collection of courses was taught by Robb Willer, professor at UC Berkeley. The series of 35 lectures analyzes the role of individuals in today’s modern world.

Human Emotion: This series taught by UC Berkeley professor Dacher Keltner takes a close look at this part of psychology in this 26-segment series.

Poverty and Human Development: This seminar was held at the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, which aims to reduce poverty and examine experiences and values to determine how the brain develops in and out of conditions of poverty.
