Names of U.S. Universities that Offer Scholarships to Foreign Students

The United States is one of the most sought-after destinations for students who want to benefit from a first-rate international education that is also recognized. It is essential to plan your education in a country like the United States, including how to finance it. Some U.S. colleges, universities and consulates require foreign students to provide a certificate of funding for the entire period of planned study.

This is a brief list of some colleges that offer scholarships to foreign applicants:

American University, in Washington DC offers free tuition and meals to an international student for a full four-year college education. Some partial scholarships are also available.

The University of Arkansas offers a number of funding opportunities for international students.

Brandeis University pays for the demonstrated financial need of each international scholarship recipient, including a round-trip airfare each year to their home country.

Berea College is the only school in the United States that provides funding for 100 percent to 100 percent of international students enrolled during the first year of enrollment.

Clark University automatically considers applicants for a variety of merit-based grants. In addition, international students can apply for scholarships of $20,000 to $25,000 per year.

Dartmouth College has scholarships and loans for international students, which include their travel to the United States.

Emory University offers generous financial assistance for international students.

Harvard University has a scholarship for up to six students for graduate study or research. Scholars receive free tuition and health insurance, as well as a contribution toward living costs.

Illinois Wesleyan University offers scholarships to qualified international applicants with outstanding academic achievements and entrance exam scores. These awards range from $10,000 to $25,000 per year and are renewable for up to four years.

Iowa State University offers scholarships from $2,000 to $10,000 per year for international students. Applicants will be automatically considered according to the academic merit scale.

Michigan State University has a Spartan global leadership program for international college students. Recipients receive $8,000 upon completion of program requirements: attendance at various leadership training courses and cultural events. International students can also write an essay about their college experience to win a maximum award of $1,000.

The University of Minnesota offers scholarships of $5,000 and $10,000 per year for international students. They also have a range of other scholarships that international students can apply for.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln offers tuition waivers to international students who have outstanding academic performance and contribute to extracurricular activities.

New York University offers Wagner Scholarships to a limited number of students per year and international students are eligible to apply. The scholarships involve partial to full tuition scholarships ranging from $25,000 to $47,000.

The University of Oregon awards up to 40 scholarships to international students per year. Scholarships cover initial tuition and can be awarded from $7,500 to $30,000 per year. Recipients are asked to make presentations about their home country to community organizations.

The Freeman Asian Scholars program at Wesleyan University offers full tuition scholarships for a four-year course for 11 exceptionally able Asian students at the undergraduate level. In addition, the university also offers assistance to some 30 international students.

The University of Wisconsin offers great discounts on tuition fees through its Tuition Waiver for Nonresidents (NTW) program for most international students studying on the University of Wisconsin’s campus.
