FREE DOCTORATE IN NURSING

The Doctor of Nursing degree is a highly regarded graduate degree for nurses. An aspiring Doctor of Nursing must have a strong interest in conducting medical research and/or teaching future nurses.

Strong leadership skills are also important, as many PhD nurses supervise and mentor other nurses, whether they are working in research, management, or teaching capacity.

To become a Doctor of Nursing, of course, nurses must complete a doctoral program in nursing, which usually takes 4-6 years to complete. Before entering a Doctoral program, nurses must complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and pass the NCLEX-RN exam (if in the United States).

In some cases, applicants to a Doctor of Nursing program must also complete a Master of Science in Nursing degree, which provides advanced education in nursing practice with courses in pharmacology, pathophysiology, and clinical practice.

What is a PhD in Nursing ?

A Doctorate in Nursing degree is the highest level of education a nurse can achieve. Unlike a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, which focuses on advanced clinical practice.

A Doctor of Nursing degree is a research and science degree that prepares nurses for careers that will advance the entire nursing profession and to teach nursing at the university level.

Doctor of Nursing programs will vary slightly from school to school. Schools and Universities offer Doctor of Nursing programs in traditional classroom formats as well as online and hybrid styles that combine in-person study with online courses.
