Beekeeping has recently become popular again, as it has been in decline for over half a century. Bees have been in the news for all the wrong reasons: colony collapse, pesticide poisoning and parasitic mites, and all this bad news seems to have triggered a desire in people to want to help and nurture this vitally important insect.

For as long as I can remember, beekeepers have been regarded by the media as harmless old men (mostly), who do strange things with wooden boxes full of bees, while dressed in suspicious outfits.

However, this image is beginning to change, as more and more women and young people are attracted by the idea of learning this ancient craft and a new urgency in the air about preserving our bees, both ‘kept’ and wild, for their important role.

What are the Beekeeping Courses ?

Bees provide a valuable pollination service in nature and play an important role in maintaining our food system. Our lives, and the world as a whole, would be a very different place if bees did not exist. The Beekeeping Training Courses focus on how to work with bees for honey production, and aim to help in-service farmers integrate the apiary into sustainable projects to harmonise our relationship with the environment.

Most courses consist of video lectures, brochures and readings. While practical beekeeping experience is a must, there are some free online beekeeping courses available that are very useful. These courses are offered in modules covering topics from very basic beginner beekeeping information to more advanced colony strength assessment so that the student can choose the right module for their skill level.

Beekeeping has many benefits and potential. The courses would help those who wish to begin their beekeeping journey. These courses are not only for beginners, but also for those who wish to learn more about beekeeping.
