ECCLESIASTES 3: 1

Ecclesiastes 3: 1 As the Bible says:

Ecclesiastes 3: 1 “For every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven”. This is saying that God fixes even the smallest details of our environment.

Jesus will return to earth as King and will reign in perfect peace for six days of rest for 1000 years. Things, like when we are born and when we die, are predestined by God. What is not meant to be, is what we do with Jesus. We, of our own free will, accept or reject him.

For Everything There is a Season

A determined time, in which everything will arise, how long it will continue and in what circumstances; all things that have been, are or will be, were pre-ordained by God, and he has determined the times previously appointed for his being, duration and end; what times and seasons he has in his own power.

There was a determined time for the whole universe, and for all persons and things in it; a fixed moment established for the birth of the world; because it did not exist from the eternity, neither by itself, nor was formed by the chance contest of atoms, but by the wisdom and power of God.

Nor could it exist sooner or later that it did; it appeared when it was the will of God that it should; in the beginning he created it and fixed the time of duration and end; because it will not continue always, but will have an end, which when it will be, he alone knows.

So there is a determined time for the ascent, height and decline of states and kingdoms in him; like the minor ones, as well as the four great monarchies; and for all different periods and ages of the world; and for every season of the year in all ages.

For the state of the church in it, whether in circumstances of suffering or flourishing; for treading upon the holy city; for prophesying, killing, and rising up of witnesses; for the reign and ruin of the antichrist.

For the reign of Christ on earth, and for his second coming to judgment, thought of that day and hour he knows no man: and as there is a time appointed in the counsels and providence of God for these more important events, so for every lesser thing; and a time for every purpose under heaven.

For every purpose of man that is brought to execution; for some are not, they are replaced by the counsel of God. Some obstruction or other is thrown in their way, so that they cannot take place; God removes men from them by affliction or death, when their purposes are broken.

Or by some other form; and for what he executes, he assigns them a time and overrides them to respond to some of his own ends; for the more contingent, free, and voluntary things, they fall under the direction and providence of God.

And there is a time for every proper purpose; all things done in the world are in accordance with its purposes, which are wisely formed within it and are eternal and inscrutable.

And there is a fixed time for their execution, for every purpose respecting all things natural and civil in providence; and for every purpose of his grace, in connection with the redemption of his people, their effective calling, and bringing them into eternal glory.

What are the things that God wills, of which He delights, as the word means? Latin versions Septuagint and Vulgate translate it as “to everything under heaven there is a time”; and Jarchi observes that in mystical language the word used means that. The Targum is: “To every man there will come a season, and a season to every business under heaven”.
