The Cell Phone: Its Definition

Cell phone or mobile phone, is a portable device to connect to a telecommunications network in order to transmit and receive voice, video or other data. Mobile phones generally connect to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) through one of two categories: cellular phone systems or global satellite phones.

A cell phone can also be known as a mobile phone or simply a cell phone.

People can communicate quickly and easily with each other over long distances using computers and cell phones. A cell phone is a handheld wireless device that allows users to make and receive calls and send text messages, among other functions.

The first generation of mobile phones could only make and receive calls. However, today’s cell phones are packed with many additional features, such as web browsers, games, cameras, video players and even navigation systems.

It is an electronic telecommunications device, often called a cell phone. Mobile phones connect to a wireless communications network via radio waves or satellite transmissions. Most mobile phones provide voice communications, short message service (SMS), multimedia message service (MMS), and newer phones can also provide Internet services such as web browsing and e-mail.

A portable telephone device that does not require the use of a fixed phone. Cell phones are portable devices that can be used in motor vehicles or by pedestrians. By communicating via radio waves, they allow a significant degree of mobility within a defined service region that can vary in area from a few city blocks to hundreds of square kilometers.

The first mobile and portable subscriber units for cellular systems were large and heavy. However, with significant advances in component technology, the weight and size of portable transceivers have been significantly reduced.
