What is and What Does a Bachelor in Bachelor in Surgical Instrumentation Do ?

The job of a surgical instrument technician is to supervise the medical equipment used in a surgical procedure.

Surgical instrument graduates have a great deal of responsibility in and out of the operating room. In addition to being present in the operating room to provide the requested tools, you must know how to prepare and sterilize the instruments.

Before surgery, your job is to review a patient’s medical history, supply the operating room with the necessary equipment and disinfect the patient’s incision area.

During surgery, you will assist the surgeon in operating diagnostic machinery, monitoring the patient’s vital signs and disposing of used equipment.

After surgery, you will transport the patient to a recovery room, sterilize the equipment for reuse and prepare the operating room for the next surgery.

Workplaces are usually in: Hospitals, medical centers, ambulatory surgery centers and doctor’s offices.
